Surprise Awards For Lorraine And Sue At The Goose In Fulham

Sharp eyed regulars at The Goose, a traditional London pub on Fulam’s North End Road and close to Stamford Bridge, may well spot two trophies behind the bar which represent a remarkable achievement for Landlady Lorraine Roman and her colleague Sue Higgs.

For the duo have won top trophies awarded by the RedCat Independent Pub Company who operate thirty-nine pubs and inns in cities, towns and villages across the country.

Lorraine a fifty-eight-year-old mum of three and now a proud grandma whose whole working life has revolved around The Goose since the millennium, has been named General Manager of The Years. while Sue, fifty-six, also a mum of three who lives close by has been named Front of House Person of the Year.

“The dear old Goose and all our regulars are my life, but you could have knocked me down with a feather when I was told I had won this award,” said Lorraine.

I first ran the pub from 2000 to 2017 before moving on within the trade, but I found myself really missing The Goose which is a great local venue for watching sport and enjoying live music, so when the opportunity came up to return in 2022, I jumped at it,” she said

Sue, who has worked at the old pub for the past eight years, said it was simply so satisfying enjoying a great camaraderie with Lorriane and their fellow colleagues and welcoming all the regulars and newcomers.

CEO Richard Lewis said it was clear that both Lorraine and Sue at The Goose really lived and breathed the culture of RedCat Independent pubs.
